Solar Installation Step-by-Step SOP: What Happens on Your Roof

Published by M.T. Solar by MTC Engineering Team • Updated for WBSEDCL 2026 Standards

Rooftop solar installation is not merely placing panels on a roof; it is a permanent electrical engineering project that must safely generate thousands of kilowatt-hours under Bengal's intense tropical sun and withstand heavy coastal storm winds.

Stage 1: Pre-Installation Readiness & Structural Anchoring

Before any equipment is mounted, our team verifies roof load capacity, shadow trajectories across all 365 days, and anchor points. Chemical grouting and anchor fasteners are secured into the reinforced concrete (RCC) columns or roof slabs without drilling deep through waterproofing layers.

Stage 2: Module Mounting & Coastal Wind Bracing

In South 24 Parganas, coastal gusts during severe seasonal storms can exceed 100–140 km/h. We install heavy-gauge hot-dip galvanized mounting structures tilted at the optimal 22°–24° angle facing true South, reinforced with back-bracing struts.

Stage 3: DC Cabling & Dual Chemical Earthing

High-voltage DC cables (UV-resistant, cross-linked polyolefin) are routed through protective rigid conduits. We establish dual chemical earthing pits:

Stage 4: Commissioning & WBSEDCL Meter Integration

Once testing confirms insulation resistance and polarity, the local WBSEDCL technical team conducts their inspection, installs the bi-directional net meter, and switches the plant live.
